About this service
What is concrete scanning? It is the process of using one or more forms of technology to penetrate in a non-destructive manner (X-Ray) to detect and determine composition, structure and strength of concrete slab and other forms of concrete.
Why you can’t afford to skip the concrete scanning stage
The standard of your completed project relies on you making sure high-quality concrete scanning occurs — well before you start.
This is because concrete scanning, by virtue of its non-invasive ability to pinpoint any and all problems in a foundation, can illuminate complex engineering issues in the one prompt and straightforward process.
When you consider that defects, deterioration and other anomalies in a concrete foundation will underpin a building’s or other structures integrity, it’s a very real concern that people’s lives may hinge in the balance.
Simply put, skipping concrete scanning means risking going ahead with a dangerous construction process (damage to electrical service can result in electrocution) and the building of an unsafe structure (immediate structural failure causing death).
What we will check when completing concrete scanning
- Rebar (cover, diameter)
- Post tension cables
- Conduits (non metallic objects)
- Total slab thickness
- Cracks and voids
- Rebar (cover & diameter within +/-2mm)
