As a team, we’ve got a wealth of experience and knowledge and we are more than happy to share this information with you. So if there’s anything you need to know, just ask — we’ll give you some keen insight on the situation. Some questions do come up a lot of the time, so make sure to check out our FAQ below to see if your question has already been answered.
What anomalies can you detect with concrete scanning?
- Rebar (cover, diameter)
- Post tension cables
- Conduits (non metallic objects)
- Total slab thickness
- Cracks and voids
- Rebar (cover & diameter within +/-2mm)
How deep can GPR detect?
In terms of concrete scanning, the maximum depth a concrete scanner can detect depends on the concrete structure itself however, in most cases 500mm. In relation to underground service locating, the depth varies depending on the soil conditions. If you were to use GPR on a very dry sand you would be hitting targets at 6-8m however, the flip side to that is wet clay would struggle to hit targets between .5 – 1.2m deep. Basically, the more airyated and dry the soil conditions the clearer the image.
What is the accuracy of concrete scanning?
Generally, the rule of thumb is 20mm either way of the marked target. However, we have been getting some amazing results with the new technology we have in at the moment. Due to this, we have found our results being closer to 5-15mm either way of the marked target.
How many locations can you scan in an hour?
Usually between 8-10 locations on a 200 – 250mm thick suspended slab with 2 x layers of reinforced steel, PT and conduits. Within this time, we would have all anomalies found marked on the top side of the slab.
What’s the turnaround time for your reports?
All of our reports are done on-site. So as soon as we are finished the works you will have the completed report within the hour.
What areas do you service?
Typically, we service SEQ and Northern NSW. However, as of 2021, we will be expanding into Sydney and Melbourne. Watch this space!
Do you hold a current EBA?
Yes we do. We currently have both EBA’s available in QLD. One is the standard EBA and the other is site-specific for the Queens Wharf Project.
